Hours of Operation

Until the museum’s grand opening in the spring of 2023, we are offering “Beta Testing” Visits. These visits will allow guests to experience the museum in its entirety, with the expectation that certain items might be offline or semi-finished. We ask any guests on these visits to give feedback to Museum staff to allow us to better prepare for opening day.

“Beta Testing” Visits are being hosted by appointment from November 14 – December 16, 2022. Please call 913-372-0021 to schedule a visit.

About the Virtual Reality Flight

Immerse yourself in Amelia’s transatlantic flight through a virtual reality simulator! Once the VR goggles are on, you find yourself in the cockpit of Amelia’s “Little Red Bus”, her Lockheed Vega 5B. Fly over the Atlantic and see yourself through three challenges that Amelia faced on her flight – if you succeed, you will land in Paris with the paparazzi waiting to take your photo; fail, like Amelia did, and you will land in Ireland! Adventure awaits!

VR is available in easy or challenging mode: easy mode will encourage you to fly through illuminated rings to stay on course, while challenging mode requires use of an instrument panel to maintain altitude, altimeter, etc. Imagery within the VR flight is friendly for all ages, with some darker views of nighttime, rain, and lightening. The VR experience is roughly four minutes long once the headset is secured; parental discretion is advised for children younger than ten. Headsets are sanitized between each pilot.
